Job description
ENVIRONMENT

OWN and enhance cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes to ensure secure, reliable, and seamless deployments as the next DevOps Engineer sought by a provider of cutting-edge Software Solutions. Working closely with the Engineering team, you will help maintain high availability infrastructure, optimise Postgres performance, and uphold AWS best practices for scalability and resilience. This role combines infrastructure ownership with a deep understanding of database performance, observability, and operational excellence. Applicants will require 5+ years’ experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure with services like ECS, ElastiCache, EC2, IAM, KMS, and CloudFormation and have a strong background in Linux administration. You will also need strong proficiency with PostgreSQL, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, ECS autoscaling, and Node.js; security expertise in IAM & a proven record in implementing backup/recovery strategies and replication topologies.

DUTIES
  • Manage CI/CD and release pipelines for various environments, implementing safe deployment strategies.
  • Define and maintain IaaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) across AWS (ECS, EC2, ElastiCache, S3 and more).
  • Conduct routine vulnerability scans, manage remediation, and maintain security best practices.
  • Build and maintain observability pipelines (metrics, logs, traces) and create actionable alerts.
  • Partner with Engineers to improve system reliability and scalability following the AWS well-architected framework.
  • Manage secrets, configuration, and access control (IAM, SSM).
  • Prepare and maintain Disaster Recovery documentation, runbooks, and postmortem processes.
  • Monitor logs and system signals to identify defects and create detailed Jira tickets.
  • Optimise Postgres (with TimescaleDB) performance through indexing, query tuning, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee backup and restore strategies (PITR, snapshots, retention policies) with regular drills.
  • Design and operate high-availability and replication strategies (Multi-AZ, read replicas, cross-region failover).
  • Collaborate with Engineers for safe schema changes and zero-downtime migrations.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong background in Linux administration and expertise in managing large-scale systems.
  • 5+ Years of experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure with services like ECS, ElastiCache, EC2, IAM, KMS, and CloudFormation.
  • Hands-on experience in automation and configuration management using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, ECS autoscaling, and Node.js deployments.
  • Proven record in implementing backup/recovery strategies and replication topologies.
  • Security expertise in IAM, dependency scanning, and least-privilege access.
  • Proficient with observability tools and alerting best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL performance tuning.
Nice-to-haves
  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly preferred.
  • NewRelic and SolarWinds experience.
  • Node.js development experience.
