Job summary

ATS Client in Cape Town, South Africa, seeks a Hands-on DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and optimise cloud infra, CI/CD pipelines, and platform operations across AWS and Azure. The role supports PHP-based Symfony/Laravel, React/Next.js, ElectronJS, and emerging APIs.

This is a highly technical role combining hands-on implementation with architectural influence, ensuring highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient platforms from day one.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in DevOps, infrastructure, or cloud engineering.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure provisioning, automation, and management.
• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or managed equivalents).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud deployments.
• Experience supporting PHP-based platforms in production.
• Networking & security fundamentals: VPCs, VPNs, firewalls, IAM, load balancing.
• Experience with high-traffic or globally distributed platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure.
• Build, maintain, and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Docker.
• Support PHP-based production platforms (Symfony & Laravel).
• Optimise performance, scalability, security, and cost-efficiency of infrastructure.
• Manage Linux server environments, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• Implement and maintain API-driven architectures (REST, authentication, versioning).
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues.
• Implement container orchestration solutions (Kubernetes preferred).
• Support caching, messaging, or queueing systems (Redis, RabbitMQ, SQS).

Key Responsibilities
