Job Purpose
To plan, manage and direct the key performance area and result indicators associated with the provision of an efficient Primary Health Care service, Environmental Health Services, Community Health Services and administration.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Conducts research into best practices associated with the Primary Health Care services functionality and determines appropriateness of specific policies/procedures for implementation and updating procedure manuals.
- Directs and controls outcomes associated with utilization, productivity and performance of personnel within the Section.
- Conducts strategic planning workshops and presenting information related to disease prevalence e.g. HIV/AIDS and planned interventions to internal and external role-players and stakeholders.
- Plans, leads and manages the Environmental Health strategy with respect to service delivery and defines the short/medium term plans/objectives for the Environmental Health functionality.
- Manages the Nursing Services strategy with respect to the provision of a comprehensive primary health care service, defines, implements and monitors the short/medium term plans/objectives for the Nursing Services functionality.
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective occupational health and safety system.
- Plans and coordinates the District Health system strategy.
- Compiles business plans for funding from National and International Agencies.
- Manages specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators by preparing Health reports.
- Manages information/estimates of capital and operating funding requirements and controls expenditure against approved budget allocations.
- Plan, develop and institute Poverty Alleviation Projects for the sub-district.

Essential Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences (NQF Level 7)
- Current Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) / The South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Valid motor vehicle driving license
- 8 years experience at a management level, of which at least 3 years must be at a senior management level
