Job description
  • Oversee cylinder and stock management to ensure accuracy and availability.
  • Meet and exceed customer demands through efficient operations and service delivery.
  • Engage and manage internal and external stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and smooth collaboration.
Activities

Effectively manage and minimize operational risks by ensuring:

  • Full compliance with all HSE policies, rules, guidelines, and legal requirements within your area of responsibility.
  • Promotion of a safe working environment and active contribution to company HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies.
  • Enforcement of HSE competency requirements within your scope.
  • Oversee equipment upkeep through thorough pre‑use, daily, weekly, and monthly inspections.
  • Prepare and submit all HSEQ‑related reports on time.
  • Manage health and safety, security, emergency systems/procedures, protective clothing requirements, and incident reporting in line with company policies and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain the ONE MAESTRO and Maestro Log System.
Integrity:
  • Implement and maintain integrity requirements.
  • Complete integrity checks based on constraints, reports, and KPIs.
  • Manage downgrade mode requirements and ensure validated safety‑critical barriers are in place.
Key Results & Reporting:
  • Coordinate daily logistics and production for cost‑effective transport and operations.
  • Manage depot administration within company guidelines to improve controls and efficiency.
  • Maintain site accuracy through daily stock reconciliations, variance investigations, and reporting via MBR and SAP.
  • Submit consolidated monthly depot results, exceptions, and corrective action plans.
  • Monitor KPIs including expenditure, SAP exceptions, audit reports, HSEQ stats, transport performance, stock loss reports, integrity, and CMMS.
Governance & Legal:
  • Ensure compliance with OHS Act (Appoint 8.1) and all national, environmental, and local laws.
  • Appoint and monitor Health and Safety Committees (Safety Officer, Fire Team, First Aid).
  • Fulfill legal requirements as Depot Manager under section 3(1) of MHI Regulation 2989 (Act 85 of 1993).
  • Ensure compliance with Liquid Licence requirements.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial, or Chemical).
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in LPG industry depot operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of Logistics Management and Stock Management.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation impacting LPG distribution and installations, such as OHS Act, HAZCHEM, and applicable SABS regulations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of SAP.
Other Requirements:
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to produce and submit high‑quality reports.
  • Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills, with exceptional problem‑solving, planning, organizing, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Driver's license and own vehicle (mandatory).
  • High personal integrity, trustworthiness, and reliability.
Additional Information
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the effective operation of the assigned site within defined limits of authority, reporting directly to the Depot Operations Manager at Head Office.
  • Oversee depot management, including accounting and reporting functions.
  • Ensure achievement of budgeted income, volumes, and alignment between orders and deliveries.
