Skills & Qualities
Administrative Skills: Proficiency in tasks like word processing, data entry, scheduling, and managing emails and databases.
Computer Skills: Ability to use dental practice management software (like Dentrix) and other office applications.
Customer Service: Exceptional ability to interact with patients and provide a professional, friendly, and empathetic experience.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, colleagues, and insurance companies.
Organization: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain an organized work environment in a busy dental practice.
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations and address issues calmly and efficiently.
Dental Terminology: Some employers value a working knowledge of dental terminology.
Other
Professionalism: A professional and confident demeanor is important for interacting with patients and colleagues.

Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED: This is the minimum educational requirement for most dental receptionist positions.
Additional Training: While not always mandatory, obtaining a certificate or associate’s degree in office administration, medical administration, or dental office management can make a candidate more competitive
Experience
Dental/Medical Office Experience: Previous experience in a dental or medical office setting is a significant advantage.
Customer Service Experience: Experience in general customer service or any other related administrative role is considered beneficial.
