Job Description
  • The aim of this role is to oversee and manage the day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery. The role will be responsible for driving performance, managing teams, and ensuring that operational goals align with business objective.
Responsibilities
Warehouse Management
  • To manage the efficient operations of the warehouse by identifying, implementing, and managing optimal processes and procedures that reduce costs and maximise working capital.
  • Plan, manage, and evaluate warehouse activities through effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics partners, and transport providers.
  • Lead the implementation of proactive risk management practices within warehouse operations, ensuring full compliance with all applicable legislative and regulatory frameworks, including occupational health and safety, fire safety, and labour laws
  • Manage and control the warehouse budget and inventory to support operational efficiency and financial performance.
  • Develop and implement practical solutions to warehouse challenges, maintaining high service levels while operating within budgetary requirements.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement and operational excellence projects aimed to optimise business process and achieve the execution of the business strategic imperative
Facilities Management
  • Ensure all site facilities are managed in full compliance with relevant regulatory standards, Health & Safety legislation, and operational requirements
  • Manage and monitor facilities budgets, ensuring cost-effective expenditure aligned with business priorities and strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate current facility operations and propose strategic improvements to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and service delivery.
  • Source, contract, and manage suppliers across various facilities and warehouse functions, ensuring quality, reliability, and value for money.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent service delivery that meets business needs and adheres to contractual obligations.
Shipping
  • Oversee the receiving and handling of imported goods, ensuring timely offloading, accurate documentation, and compliance with import regulations.
  • Align warehouse operations with shipping schedules to ensure efficient stock movement, minimize delays, and optimize space utilization.
  • Monitor and manage warehouse-related shipping costs, ensuring alignment with budget forecasts and identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Implement inventory control systems to reduce shrinkage and overstock
  • Collaborate with the shipping coordinator to investigate and resolve any discrepancies due to shortages and overages
People Management
  • Foster a high-performance culture across the warehouse by driving consistent communication and engagement at all levels, while ensuring adherence to labour legislation and company policies.
  • Provide clear leadership and direction, setting transparent expectations and modelling the organisation’s values and behaviours to achieve and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead strategic workforce planning by identifying succession opportunities, defining optimal team structures, and overseeing talent management initiatives.
  • Drive training and development efforts to build capability, ensuring teams are equipped with the skills and competencies required to perform effectively and support operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in a warehouse / production environment
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficiency in WMS and operational reporting tools.
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
