Job summary

Bidvest Bank Limited is seeking a Database Administrator to design, plan, configure, support and secure the bank's databases environment. The role ensures availability, integrity and performance across environments and manages all database changes.

Responsibilities include DR planning, backups, HA deployments, and access management. A National Diploma or BSc in IT with relevant certifications and at least two years in database administration are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in Database Administration.
• Experience in the Financial Services sector.
• Relevant IT degree/diploma and database certifications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to deploy robust deployments and move to High Availability.
• Implement Disaster Recovery and backup strategies to meet continuity goals.
• Maintain policies, procedures and meticulous documentation of changes.
• Control database access and security to ensure compliance.

Role Purpose

Design, Plan, Configure, Support, Secure and Maintain the availability, integrity and performance of the Bank's databases environment.

Manage all database changes in all environments.

Ensure that the database environments are adequately backed up and replicated to ensure limited impact in the event of a failures and to ensure that we can achieve the Disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.

To succeed in this role you will need:

Technical Competencies

• Microsoft SQL server
• SQL server in Azure
• ITIL (Change Management, Service Delivery, Service Level Agreements)

Minimum Education

• National Diploma in Information Technology and / or BSC Degree in Information Technology
• Microsoft and / or other Database related Certifications

Minimum work experience

• Minimum 2 years in Database Administration
• Financial Services experience
