Job summary

AES Global is seeking a Data Team Lead to guide a team of analysts and data engineers in building an AI-ready data structure for a digital supply chain. You will own the data-warehouse environment on Google Cloud Platform, translating supply-chain requirements into robust data solutions.

You’ll lead projects, perform UAT and validation, and ensure smooth data integration across source systems with Looker Studio visualisations for business users. Hybrid work in Cape Town is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant field and experience leading BI teams.
• Strong BI reporting experience in logistics or retail environments.
• Ability to translate business needs into data specifications and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysts and data engineers with workload, performance and development.
• Design and govern the data-warehouse on GCP and ensure source-to-target integrations.
• Translate supply-chain requirements into technical data specs.
• Perform UAT/validation and ensure smooth integration with GCP.
• Engage in multi-project delivery for end-to-end supply-chain improvement.
• Interpret and visualise data for business users (Looker Studio).

We’re working with an established logistics business, and they’re looking for a Data Team Lead to lead a team of analysts and data engineers, building an AI-ready data structure for a digital supply chain.

You’ll lead the team and own the data-warehouse environment on Google Cloud Platform, translating supply-chain business requirements into data solutions.

What you’ll do

• Lead a team of analysts and data engineers — workload allocation, performance and development
• Design, maintain and govern the data-warehouse environment
• Translate business requirements from supply-chain stakeholders into technical data specifications
• Perform UAT and validation, and ensure smooth integration between source systems and GCP
• Take part in multi-disciplined client projects for end-to-end supply-chain improvement, managing timelines
• Interpret and visualise data for business users (e.g. Google Looker Studio)

What you’ll bring

• A relevant degree in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Statistics or similar
• 5 years’ experience in business intelligence / data analysis, and experience leading teams
• Knowledge of BI reporting systems, and experience in a logistics, retail and project environment
• Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Looker Studio (or similar), and Cloud SQL
• Agile methodologies and project management
• Advanced MS Office (especially Excel) and Google Workspace
• A valid driver’s licence and own transport (for weekly client travel)

Working model

Hybrid, based in Cape Town, with some client-site days.
