Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale data solutions with SQL/NoSQL databases and data warehouses/data lakes.
• Cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) required; data governance and security knowledge.

About the Role

Our client, a leading analytics and consulting firm based in Paarl, Western Cape , is seeking an experienced Data Solutions Architect for a contract position. This role is focused on designing, developing, and implementing robust data architectures that enable advanced analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making. You will play a critical role in defining data strategies, establishing data governance frameworks, and ensuring the efficient flow and management of data across the organization. This is a fully remote opportunity, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, while contributing to impactful data projects for our client.

Key Responsibilities

Design and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts. Develop and implement data models, schemas, and ETL/ELT processes. Define data governance policies, standards, and best practices. Collaborate with business stakeholders and data analysts to understand data requirements and deliver solutions. Evaluate and select appropriate data technologies, tools, and platforms. Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability across all data solutions. Provide technical leadership and guidance on data architecture best practices. Develop and maintain data architecture documentation. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in data management and analytics. Troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines and query performance.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles. Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data solutions using technologies like SQL, NoSQL databases, data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), and data lakes. Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration patterns. Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is essential. Proficiency in data visualization tools and business intelligence platforms. Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with programming languages such as Python or Scala for data manipulation is a plus. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote setting.
