Job summary

RMB in Johannesburg is seeking a Data Scientist II to plan, build, optimise and implement quantitative analytical methodologies and advanced models that support business opportunities and strategy with minimal guidance.

You will deliver model development, governance for AML/CFT analytics, and translate insights for non-technical stakeholders, while collaborating with risk, business and technology teams across the group.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, CS, Actuarial Science, Engineering or Physics.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing and implementing analytical models.
• Strong SAS, SQL and Python scripting skills.
• Experience in financial crime, fraud detection, or AML/CFT is a strong advantage.
• Ability to translate technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on model development, implementation and governance for financial crime analytics.
• Proactively identify analytical opportunities and solve unstructured problems.
• Translate technical solutions into actionable insights for stakeholders.
• Produce clear technical documentation for models and processes.
• Collaborate with business, risk and technology teams to drive model effectiveness.
