Job summary

Houst is seeking a driven, entry-level data professional to join our Data team on a contract basis in Cape Town. You will support data analysis and reporting across all business functions and take ownership of pricing algorithms to maximize portfolio performance and revenue.

You will work with BigQuery, Looker, LookML, and Python/SQL to build dashboards, model data, and run experiments. Collaboration with multiple stakeholders, strong communication, and a problem-solving mindset are essential

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a BSc or MSc in Data Science, Mathematics, or Data Analytics.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and/or R.
• Experience with Looker/LookML is desirable.
• Strong prioritisation and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Understanding of basic statistical methods and hypothesis testing.
• Analytical mindset and business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Manage full data pipeline from data sources, through BigQuery warehouse and LookML modelling, to business-facing dashboards.
• Maintain existing LookML code and develop new data models to meet business needs.
• Translate business needs into data solutions by collaborating with different teams.
• Support users in building dashboards and taking ownership where necessary.
• Present information using data visualisation techniques.
• Lead pricing algorithm initiatives and run live experiments to evaluate changes.
• Identify data analysis projects, plan and execute analyses, and interpret results.

In this role, you will support data analysis and reporting across all business functions, helping to drive informed decision making through data-driven insights. You will also take ownership of our pricing algorithm, ensuring our property portfolio is priced effectively and competitively across all markets to maximise performance and revenue.

Responsibilities:
