Purpose and Strategic Role
Global Markets Data Management and Governance is responsible for ensuring that data is accurate, trusted, and well‑governed across all domains. It provides oversight, defines standards, and drives initiatives that support regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, strategic decision‑making, and enhanced revenue generation through data.
Project Overview
The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data within the company's Global Markets systems. This role involves developing and implementing data quality processes, establishing data quality metrics, and ensuring compliance with data governance frameworks.
The ideal candidate will have experience in data analysis, data governance, and a strong understanding of financial markets and regulatory requirements. The candidate must have experience in Financial Markets (trading) as well as strong data analysis and process engineering skills and functional knowledge for Global Markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop, document and implement data quality processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data within Global Markets.
- Establish data quality metrics and monitoring mechanisms to continuously assess and improve data quality, including relevant technical dashboards and processes.
- Establish and implement data process workflows to ensure that data quality is infused as part of any business process.
- Implement data governance frameworks, including data attestation and data lineage, to ensure the integrity, security, and usability of data.
- Support the Global Markets data portfolio to ensure alignment with the company's data strategy, business objectives, and enterprise data governance.
- Ensure compliance with data legislations and regulations applicable to South Africa and other African and international countries where Global Markets operates.
- Conduct thorough research on regulatory requirements and stay updated with changes in regulations.
- Collaborate with various departments, including data producers, trading, risk management, and IT, to ensure data quality and governance.
- Build data quality dashboards for anomalies with alerts to source owners for resolution.
- Oversee and contribute to data remediation initiatives across Global Markets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualification in a related field, e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Investment Banking / Capital Markets IT and Data domain.
- 5-10 years of experience in a business and data analysis role working in a Global Markets environment.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good working experience with Cloud technologies, especially AWS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
- Good understanding of asset classes such as Equity, Fixed Income, Credit, FX, commodities, Interest Rates, Collateral, and their product lifecycle.
- Working experience on FMA, EMIR, Dodd‑Frank, CFTC, and other relevant Markets Regulatory Reporting requirements.
- Excellent experience with data governance best practices and tools, including creating data quality dashboards.
- Familiarity with Front Arena application as a primary system.
