Description

Please note: We use banding codes (e.g., C1, C2, C3, S1, S2…) to reflect different levels of experience and competency within each job title. These bands range from 1 to 3, with higher numbers indicating more senior roles. While the job title remains the same, the responsibilities and expectations vary by band, so we encourage candidates to read the role description carefully and apply for the banding that best aligns with their experience and career stage.

A few application tips…

  • Clear, specific examples of your work and impact
  • Relevant experience aligned with the role’s focus
  • A thoughtful response to any application questions
  • A resume that highlights both what you did and why it mattered

If you’re unsure whether your background is the “perfect fit,” we still encourage you to apply. We value potential and growth just as much as experience.

Why this role exists…

As demand for data-driven decision-making continues to grow, so does the need for expert guidance in turning raw data into actionable insights. At Snap, we partner with clients across industries to help them unlock the full potential of their data, and we’re growing fast.

We’re looking for a Data Platform Consultant experienced in Databricks to join our programme developing an enterprise data platform. The initial focus of the new workstream will be on health, safety and environment related analytics. Other workstreams cover a wide range of business areas, including finance, logistics and customer loyalty. Over time there will be opportunities to get involved in these, and other areas of the data platform.

What you'll be doing...

As a Databricks Consultant, you’ll be central to designing and delivering a robust data integration solution. You’ll work closely with a Solution Architect and a cross-functional sprint team made up of both Snap and client-side colleagues.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing data solutions in Databricks using Python and SQL
  • Translating and refining business requirements into technical solutions
  • Managing system testing, UAT planning, and troubleshooting
  • Supporting CI/CD deployment processes and contributing to sprint planning

In your first 3–6 months, success might look like:

  • Delivering the integration of a health and safety data into the enterprise data warehouse, supporting both the need for standard reports and self-service capabilities in the business.
  • Setting the Power BI teams up for success by delivering high quality data models and data pipelines
  • Driving user adoption by ensuring data accuracy, performance, and usability
What you'll need to succeed...

We’re looking for someone who brings a mix of experience, curiosity, and collaboration.

You might be a great fit if you have:

  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end data warehousing projects in Databricks, including solution design, fine tuning the business requirements and being hands on in the solution development
  • Strong Python and SQL skills
  • Experience with Git integration and DevOps exposure (CI/CD deployment and sprint planning)
  • Experience with dimensional modelling
  • A collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to knowledge sharing

Bonus points if you’ve worked with:

  • Data validation frameworks like Great Expectations
  • Enterprise data platforms and large-scale data integration projects

This role might not be the right fit if you’re looking for:

  • A highly isolated role… this team thrives on collaboration and shared ownership
  • A purely remote position with no travel. There will be monthly travel to Cape Town if you’re based elsewhere in South Africa
