Job summary

United Nations University in Pretoria, South Africa seeks a Datalab Assistant to support data work under the SA-TIED programme. You will manage Data Lab operations and assist with data cleaning, documentation, and event coordination at the National Treasury site in Pretoria.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years in economics, statistics or data science, strong STATA/EVIEWS/SQL skills, and fluent English. This is a full-time, local contract based in Pretoria.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, geoinformatics, data science or equivalent with at least two years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent skills in STATA and EVIEWS and SQL.
• Knowledge of R and ArcGIS is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills.
• Fluent in oral and written English.

Responsibilities

• Data Lab management and administrative support for the Data Lab.
• Retrieve, clean, and process microdata in SQL and Stata.
• Assist in drafting documentation related to the microdata.
• Coordinate SA-TIED events and liaise with SARS on technical data.
