Accountable for defining how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by data entities and IT systems, including applications that use or process that data.
Supports the creation of a data governance framework that meets business and technology requirements while ensuring data security and compliance with regulations, and integrates these practices across the organization.
Works across multiple teams to optimize data storage and retrieval, enhance data quality and governance, and guide data-driven decision making.
Translates business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams, collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to design appropriate data models and structures.
Designs and implements data integration and data flow processes for efficient movement across systems and platforms.
Analyzes, plans, and defines the data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.
Defines and implements data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
Plans and facilitates data governance communities, workshops, and meetings.
Analyzes existing data systems to identify improvement opportunities and recommends innovative solutions for data management and analytics.
Maintains data standards, definitions, and dictionaries to ensure consistency and interoperability.
Defines technical standards and guidelines for data use, security, access, and governance, supporting data quality mandates.
Creates diagrams of key data entities and inventories data needed to implement the architecture vision.
Seasoned understanding of data governance, integration, quality, lifecycle processes, and best practices, and how these impact business performance.
Enterprise-wide view of the business with deep appreciation for strategy, processes, capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance.
Experienced in preparing, facilitating, and driving forums, communities, workshops, and meetings across all organizational levels.
Effective change agent and communicator who demonstrates the value of data governance, secures organizational buy-in, and educates stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and communication skills fostering team success.
Relationship-building ability and adeptness at navigating senior management to specialists.
Proficient in developing communication and training materials and delivering data governance training.
Good understanding of IT domains : information, security, application, technology infrastructure, and integration.
Analytical problem-solving skills to safeguard data integrity, security, and organization.
Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) with experience implementing protection measures.
Knowledge of data modelling techniques, warehousing concepts, and database management systems.
Seasoned in SQL and experienced with database development and performance optimization.
Seasoned in data visualization tools and techniques.
Seasoned experience working as a Data Governance Specialist or in a similar role.
Seasoned experience in developing and implementing data governance strategies, frameworks, and operating models.
Seasoned experience in developing training materials, conducting data governance workshops, and facilitating knowledge sharing sessions.
Seasoned experience with data management tools and technologies.
Desirable experience in creating data governance frameworks, dictionaries, classification schemes, and standards.
Experience ensuring governance practices align with regulatory guidelines and managing compliance audits.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred certifications in data management (e.g., DAMA Certified Data Management Professional).
