Job summary

Experian is seeking a Data Governance Specialist in South Africa to implement standards and controls for data access. You will design robust processes to detect, report, and remediate inappropriate access, while maintaining data catalogue, glossary, and metadata accuracy.

The role requires strong communication, cross-team collaboration, and analytical problem-solving skills, with a focus on monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on data usage.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent standard with high information technology content
• 3 – 5 years of monitoring and evaluation experience
• 1- 3 years of data analysis and statistical measurements

Responsibilities

• Implement required controls to ensure daily monitoring and auditing of access to our data assets
• Build and maintain the data catalogue and business glossary, ensuring metadata, ownership, lineage, and definitions remain accurate
• Prepare and maintain the monitoring database using available tools
• Carry out activities to collect, review, analyse and report on data to meet required standards and controls
• Develop solutions and best practice in the utilisation of Experian and client data to produce insights on access to data
• Create triggers that can alert users on inappropriate access activity
• Produce reports daily and monthly findings and prepare presentations based on data
