Job summary

Pbt-Group in Cape Town is seeking a strong Data Engineer who can handle traditional data engineering tasks while gaining exposure to AI and agentic AI concepts. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Python and SQL, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and cloud data platforms.

You will contribute to data migration and modernization projects and collaborate on REST APIs, Docker, CI/CD, and modern software practices. Experience with GCP is preferred, with Azure considered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years Data Engineering experience.
• Strong Python & SQL.
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT and cloud data platforms.
• Some exposure to AI / LLMs / Agentic AI or frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, AutoGen or CrewAI.
• Experience with REST APIs, Docker, CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience with GCP preferred, but strong Azure experience will also be considered.

We’re looking for a strong Data Engineer with traditional Data Engineering experience, who also has some exposure to AI / LLMs / Agentic AI and is interested in working on data migration and modernisation projects.
