ETL Developer

The purpose of the ETL Developer is to develop extraction, translation, and loading jobs which will populate the Data Warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, debug, and correct programs to ensure business requirements are met.
• Analyse the effect of new functions on the existing system and generate test cases according to SDLC methodology.
• Implement practical solutions using specialist and departmental systems and processes.
• Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve efficiency, compliance, and quality objectives.
• Identify problems and develop solutions to present to appropriate leaders or stakeholders.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational support to enhance performance.
• Support cost‑containment initiatives and review cost/benefit and ROI.
• Maintain customer‑centric delivery and understand client needs.
• Share and sustain knowledge within the organisation.
• Maintain professional expertise and meet CPD/accreditation requirements.
• Engage with internal and external expert resources and partners.
• Provide specialist expertise on projects and apply best practice.
• Represent the department on committees related to the area of specialization.
• Design, develop, and implement ETL pipelines.
• Debug and correct programs for new and maintenance work.
• Tune performance of long‑running queries and recommend improvement strategies.
• Perform data extracts and monitor data loads.
• Support implemented BI solutions by addressing user questions concerning data integrity, performance tuning, archiving strategy, and communicating functional and technical issues.
