Eqplus Technologies Pty Ltd is seeking a Data Architect Practice Lead in Gauteng to establish, grow, and lead our Data Architecture capability while remaining hands-on with complex client engagements.

The role combines deep technical expertise with client engagement, consulting, business development and practice leadership. The ideal candidate will drive DAMA-aligned data architecture, governance, modelling, privacy, and regulatory compliance across enterprises.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or related discipline.
• 5-7 years’ experience in Data Architecture and/or Enterprise Architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, national-level Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture engagements, including public sector work.
• Design end-to-end data architecture and governance solutions across sectors such as public, telecoms and financial services.
• Lead foundational enterprise data capabilities aligned to DAMA principles and domains.
• Oversee Data Architecture Practice, including people, delivery, standards, methodologies and capability development.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure data solutions and provide technical leadership across the lifecycle.
• Engage with clients and senior stakeholders, presenting architecture strategies and designs.

We are looking for an accomplished

Data Architect Practice Lead to establish, grow and lead our Data Architecture capability while remaining hands‑on with complex client engagements.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced

Data Architect / Enterprise Architect who has reached a point in their career where they want to combine deep technical expertise with client engagement, consulting, business development and practice leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience across Enterprise Data Architecture, Data Governance, DAMA principles, data modelling, data quality, metadata, data lineage, privacy and regulatory compliance, together with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Enterprise Architecture

• Lead complex, national-level Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture engagements, including engagements within the public sector.
• Design and present end-to-end data architecture and governance solutions across sectors such as public sector, telecommunications and financial services.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of foundational enterprise data capabilities aligned to DAMA principles and domains.
• Lead the Data Architecture Practice, including people, delivery, standards, methodologies and capability development.
• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data architectures and solutions across complex environments.
• Define and implement practical data principles, standards, patterns and governance frameworks aligned to business and technology strategy.
• Develop and oversee data models, data integration, data platforms, data quality, metadata and lineage solutions.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, secure and sustainable data solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across the full data solution lifecycle — from architecture and design through development and implementation.
• Engage with clients and senior stakeholders, presenting architecture strategies and solution designs.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure alignment with privacy, security, compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Manage, mentor and develop Data Architects and technical teams.
• Support RFPs, technical proposals, solutioning and pre‑sales.
• Help shape and grow the Data Architecture service offering and Business Unit.

Required

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science or a related discipline.
• 5 - 7 years’ experience in Data Architecture and/or Enterprise Architecture.

Highly advantageous

• TOGAF certification.
• Recognised Data Architecture / Data Management certifications.
• DAMA-related certification or formal training.
• Relevant certifications or formal courses in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Data Modelling or Data Privacy.
