Role Overview

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Data Analyst with strong data engineering fundamentals to join our fast-growing team. In this role, you’ll work across the full data lifecycle: designing and maintaining data pipelines, extracting and transforming large datasets, performing advanced analysis using SQL and Python, and building intuitive dashboards that drive operational and strategic impact. You’ll collaborate closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and clients to translate requirements into scalable, well‑structured data solutions.

Location

This is a hybrid role based in Cape Town approx. 3 days in the office 8‑5pm. If you’re applying from another location, please be aware relocation to Cape Town will be required and would need to be arranged personally.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines, ensuring efficient extraction, transformation, and loading of large datasets across systems.
• Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into analytical models, dashboards, or data solutions.
• Write and optimise SQL queries to prepare, validate, and analyse structured datasets.
• Use Python for data cleansing, transformation, statistical analysis, and automation tasks.
• Build and maintain dashboards using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Support the design and optimisation of data models, warehouse structures, and reporting layers.
• Identify trends, anomalies, and patterns in data to support decision‑making and improve performance.
• Investigate and resolve data quality issues, ensuring consistency and reliability across systems.
• Document data flows, logic, source‑to‑target mappings, KPIs, and solution designs clearly and accurately.
• Participate in technical workshops and collaborative sessions with clients to shape scalable data solutions.
• Continuously enhance analytical solutions based on business feedback and evolving data needs.

What You Bring

We’re looking for someone who blends analytical strength, technical depth, and the curiosity to solve real business problems.

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (and 3–4 years relevant experience) in Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience designing or working with ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of databases and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with Python for data analysis, transformation, and scripting.
• Experience building dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Ability to design and document data logic, KPIs, and functional or technical requirements.
• Comfortable working with large datasets and working across multiple data sources.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate insights clearly.
• Proactive communicator, able to translate technical detail into practical business understanding.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.

What we consider as an advantage:

• Experience building or maintaining production‑grade data pipelines or working with modern data stack tools.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks, MDM, or structured KPI frameworks.
• Familiarity with forecasting, statistical modelling, or predictive analysis.
• Experience in domains such as supply chain, HR analytics, retail, or financial analytics.
• Experience in a consulting or client‑facing role.
