About the NEF

The NEF is an agency of the dtic, that is a driver and a thought-leader in promoting and facilitating black economic participation through the provision of financial and non-financial support to black‑owned and managed businesses, as well as by promoting a culture of savings and investment among black people. The only Developmental Finance Institution exclusively mandated to grow B‑BBEE.

Role Summary

The incumbent will support the development and execution of the National Empowerment Fund’s strategic objectives, driving innovation within the development finance sector. The role includes conducting research and analysis as well as preparing reports and recommendations across projects.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting: analysis of data, mainly investment portfolio data for performance reporting purposes.
  • Collect, validate, analyse and interpret data for strategic purposes while maintaining systematic processes.
  • Maintain investment database, ensure periodic updates and accuracy of data.
  • Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual (integrated and annual) performance reports.
  • Respond to ad‑hoc requests for performance information.
  • Develop data models and templates as required.
  • Research and compile quarterly economic outlook data with emphasis to specific industries affecting the NEF. Work closely with management to identify and develop data requirements for the organisation.
  • Facilitating strategy and planning: identify and prepare relevant reports from data analysis conducted for insights inputting into organisational efficiencies and strategic conversations.
  • Participate in the coordination of strategic planning workshops by facilitating the entire procurement value chain to procure strategy venue, facilitator, etc as required.
  • Prepare strategic and planning documents and presentations.
  • Research: collect and analyse primary or secondary data for the department’s research purposes.
  • Assist Strategy and Planning Manager to draft research reports to inform management’s decision‑making at the strategic level.
  • Develop efficient tools to effectively share information through the organisation.
  • Communicate with the guidance of the manager, communicate concluded outcomes.
Experience / Skills Required

3 years relevant experience, preferably in the financial / consulting sectors; sound financial analysis skills and knowledge of economic issues to serve as a Data Analyst; excellent MS Office skills especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI. Ability to use pivot tables to analyze data; analysis of data, mainly investment portfolio data for performance reporting purposes; collect, validate and interpret data for strategic purposes; compile quarterly economic outlook with emphasis to specific industries affecting the NEF; collect and analyse primary or secondary data for the department’s research purposes; good report writing skills; research competency required.

Qualification Requirements

Bachelor of Commerce / Economics qualification will be advantageous.
