Customer Equipment Engineer – Marketing Sales Operations

Location: Hammarsdale, Durban, South Africa

A Customer Equipment Engineer position has become available in the Sales Division, based in Hammarsdale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical resources as a subject matter expert to support the Buckman South Africa business.
  • Supply product knowledge of Buckman processes, products, functions, and impact on operational performance.
  • Foster relationships and become a trusted advisor to drive project performance.
  • Standardize equipment design and maintain alignment with global equipment standards.
  • Deliver customer equipment technical resources aligned with Buckman South Africa’s goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate HCAS governance of customer service equipment.
  • Perform HAZOP studies and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate asset management for customer service equipment.
  • Ensure equipment planning, asset management, and reporting processes are established.
  • Support management in identifying, managing, and implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Travel extensively; be physically fit and able to work independently at challenging plant sites.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and self‑discipline skills.
Qualifications
  • National diploma, degree, or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience with Buckman’s key markets and associated equipment.
  • Knowledge of engineering or maintenance of pumps and control monitors used in industrial chemical feed systems.
  • Understanding of materials of construction and material compatibility.
  • Familiarity with and ability to lead a HAZOP study.
  • Driver’s licence, computer literacy, basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, and understanding of business systems.

They will be a people‑person, practically oriented, able to handle pressure, a problem solver, and a self‑motivated team member.
