Curriculum Developer and Instructional Designer

KLM Empowered, an accredited Skills Development Provider registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the QCTO, is seeking a Curriculum Designer to join our Eduvate21 Learning Innovation Division.

This is a full-time, salaried position based in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.

The role focuses on designing outcomes-based, work-integrated learning programmes that meet industry and regulatory standards, empowering adult learners to succeed in their chosen fields.

You will combine research, instructional design, and creativity to produce high-quality curricula that meet occupational qualification requirements and reflect our commitment to learning excellence.

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Develop outcomes-based curricula for adult and workplace learning programmes aligned to QCTO standards and occupational profiles.

Conduct structured research to inform curriculum content, ensuring relevance, academic depth, and compliance with industry expectations.

Design modular, flexible learning pathways that respond to learner and employer needs.

Integrate creative and active learning methods that enhance engagement, retention, and application of knowledge.

Use digital design tools and e-learning platforms to create interactive, multimedia-rich content that supports blended delivery.

Evaluate and refine curriculum materials through feedback, assessment results, and evolving best practices.

Work closely with subject matter experts, facilitators, and internal teams to maintain quality, coherence, and compliance across learning materials.

Contribute to facilitator training, onboarding, and resource creation to ensure effective delivery and learner success.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field (Master's degree advantageous).

Proven experience in curriculum or learning design for adult education or occupational training.

Sound knowledge of outcomes-based education (OBE) and assessment design principles.

Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.

Creativity and innovation in learning design.

Proficiency with e-learning authoring and digital curriculum tools.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Meticulous attention to accuracy, formatting, and compliance standards.
