Job summary

A global FMCG company is seeking a CSP Assistant in South Africa to lead market plan execution in customer development. This role requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in marketing or sales, a BComm degree, and strong analytical skills. The position is office-based in Durban or Johannesburg and demands full-time presence on site.

Category/Function Introduction

Customer Development (CD) is what we call our Sales organization at Unilever. Customer Development works closely with our customers to pioneer new products, build categories, and best deploy best-in-class retail and shopper capabilities.

Job Purpose

Lead in Market Plan execution (Aligned to BU Strategy)

Main Responsibilities
  • Localise Category Growth Strategy
  • Execute strategically aligned Commercial Plan in Market
  • Decide Channel/Customer Prioritisation in Market and deploy Budget accordingly
  • Lead Core Capabilities and objective customer engagement (Catman / Shopper / NRM)
  • D4C/D4R: execute locally AND integrate Channel & Customer upstream into BU
  • Localise (Develop and deploy) CGS at channel and customer level
  • Work closely with Brand, CMI, NRM, Shopper Marketing to build Customer sell‑in
  • Define national innovation & launch plan to channels/customers
  • Monthly innovation tracking: sell‑in & out and distribution performance
  • Track USG targets and investment to deliver BG strategy by channel and customer
  • Own Pricing & Promo strategy
  • Own and manage deal
  • NRM: Ownership of L4 and L5
  • Deploy strategically aligned commercial plan in Market via CBD Deploy launch plans to channels/customers to ensure strength of execution
  • Implement blueprints via FSA to ensure correct KPI is measured related & linked to COTC
  • Track TDP (total distribution points) on COTC and identify opportunities to be actioned
  • Define channel / Customer Execution: (SoS, TDP)
  • Shopper / Digital marketing led
  • Deploy core capabilities required to win by Channel and Customer
  • Catman / Shopper / NRM
Experiences & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Marketing or Sales in FMCG industry
  • BComm degree (preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Financial majors)
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional team experience.
  • Strong demonstrated insight & analytical skills
  • Previous experience using Nielsen, PowerBI or customer platforms like Shoprite REX or PnP info hub would be very favourable.
