Job description
Position Overview

We are looking for a Critical Facilities Technician to join our team and ensure the optimal performance of our data center infrastructure. This role involves managing mechanical and electrical systems, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring uptime for our customers. The ideal candidate has experience working with critical facility systems, including UPS, PDUs, diesel generators, and building controls. Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency.

  • Operate and maintain critical systems such as UPS, PDUs, diesel generators, HVAC, and building management systems.

  • Monitor and respond to alarms from the Building Monitoring System (BMS), ensuring timely issue resolution.

  • Manage vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with maintenance standards and operational requirements.

  • Assist in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of complex technical issues.

  • Maintain detailed site logs, issue work permits, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Identify and address Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and recommend operational improvements.

  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and identify areas for sustainability improvements.

  • Respond to on-site incidents, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the seamless operation of the data center and provide technical support as needed.

Qualifications
  • Education: ND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or N6 with Trade Test.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data center maintenance.

  • Technical Skills: Practical knowledge of Air Circuit Breakers, UPS, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, FCU, Generators, and PLCs.

  • IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and compliance with GMR 2.1 requirements.

  • Preferred: Experience with technical writing, creating operational procedures, and troubleshooting critical infrastructure.
