Job description

With two campuses situated in Sandton and Alexandra, St David’s is a Marist, Catholic, Independent School for boys of all faiths. We cater for boys from Grade 00 to Grade 12 and offer weekly boarding in the College.

Established in 1941, St David’s Marist Inanda is part of a global Marist educational system with a strong value base, focused on “Humility, Simplicity and Modesty” as espoused by our founder St Marcellin Champagnat. These values guide us to excellence in our core areas of Academics, Culturals , Leadership, Service & Sport.

St David’s Marist Inanda Cricket has a proud tradition of excellence in cricket with a large number of players. Our facilities and coaching methods are top of the range and are backed up by an experienced Director of Cricket and full‑time Cricket Professional Coaches.
The Role

St David’s Marist Inanda wishes to appoint quality ‘College’ and ‘Prep’ School Cricket Coaches for Term 1 in 2026 and potentially longer, to coach and to manage cricketers and teams between the ages of 6 and 18. These positions are purely part‑time and mainly, but not exclusively, in cricket‑season roles, and shall require the successful candidates to be available for practices and matches throughout the week on most afternoons and potentially on a Saturday for matches. The Coaches will be required to manage and to coach at team training sessions, at matches, and as directed from time to time. The role will also require practice session management, match and team management, self‑planning, team administrative work, and some umpiring and scoring during matches as needed.

The Candidate

The school is looking for Coaches, who are primarily good people, as well as being committed, dependable, organised, knowledgeable, physically fit, and preferably, but not exclusively qualified or past/current cricket players themselves. Real cricketing knowledge and an understanding of the game is necessary, as well as being able to have the patience and the right amount of discipline to coach and to manage our hungry young cricketers. The ideal Coach will need to be prepared to have an open mind, prepared to learn more about the game, and prepared to take instructions and to execute the school’s plans and objectives. Candidates will need to be Johannesburg‑based as these are part‑time‑based roles, whilst a candidate will also need to have reliable transport methods to get to and from practices and matches punctually.

  • Applicants have until 17th November 2025 to apply. Only shortlisted candidates shall be notified, and if an applicant has not had any communication within two weeks after the closing date – the application must be taken as unsuccessful.

The school reserves the right not to proceed with the filling of this post. An application will not in itself entitle the applicant to an interview or appointment. Failure to meet the minimum requirements of the advertised post will result in applicants automatically disqualifying themselves from consideration. Only short‑listed candidates will be contacted. Candidates not contacted shall consider their application unsuccessful.

All reasonable measures will be in place to protect personal information but will be used in the recruitment, selection, and reporting process.
