Job summary

Old Mutual Limited is hiring a Quantitative Credit Analyst to join the Group Credit Investment team in Pinelands. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and enhancing internal credit rating scorecards and translating risk drivers into robust scoring frameworks.

You will work with credit analysts to test scorecard performance, conduct scenario analyses, and provide quantitative support for credit papers and committees, ensuring clear communication of findings and limitations.

Qualifications

• Degree with substantial quantitative content in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, actuarial science, engineering, quantitative finance, or equivalent.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience
• Practical programming capability in Python, R or equivalent; strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Experience with SQL, reproducible analytical workflows and version control would be advantageous.
• Understanding of financial statements, credit risk, investments and fixed income instruments.
• Postgraduate qualification / CFA / CA(SA) advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance internal credit rating scorecards.
• Translate risk drivers into scoring frameworks.
• Collaborate with credit analysts to assess counterparty risk.
• Test scorecard performance, back-testing and benchmarking.
• Prepare development validations for review and approval processes.
• Provide targeted quantitative analysis to credit papers and committees.
• Support scorecard governance and documentation.
