Job summary

The Core Group is seeking a Risk Operations Manager to lead the manual credit assessment team, own fraud management and compliance within iStore Finance, and scale operations. You will build capabilities, coach analysts, monitor policy adherence and work with Data/MI to refine decisioning rules while maintaining regulatory controls (FICA, NCA, POPIA, NCR).

Qualifications

5-8 years' experience in credit risk, credit assessment or compliance within a consumer lending environment.
2-3 years managing a team of credit analysts.
Strong knowledge of SA regulatory environment (FICA, NCA, POPIA, NCR).
Practical fraud risk management experience in consumer lending.
Ability to use MI/reporting tools to guide decisions.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and performance-manage the Credit Analyst team with clear targets for turnaround time, decision quality and portfolio outcomes.
Own the end-to-end manual credit assessment process and ensure lending decisions align with policy and affordability criteria.
Run regular case reviews and quality checks to improve analyst judgement and capability.
Monitor decisioning quality, turnaround times and portfolio risk trends; take corrective action as needed.
Collaborate with Data/MI to refine policy, scorecards and decision rules based on portfolio performance.
