The Credit and Recoveries Manager will be responsible for the full credit function, including loan evaluations, approvals, arrears management, and collections. This role will lead both the Evaluations and Collections teams to ensure efficient processes, policy compliance, and portfolio health. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic direction of the credit book and play a key role in minimizing risk and optimizing recoveries. Regular reporting and policy oversight are key aspects of this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and improve the credit evaluation and approval process.
- Ensure compliance with credit policy and affordability guidelines.
- Review and recommend updates to the Credit Policy.
- Participate in the Credit Committee and advise on portfolio risk.
- Implement strategies to reduce default rates and improve credit outcomes.
- Classify loan risk categories to support credit policy decisions.
- Lead the Collections Department to maximise recovery performance.
- Monitor collections data and drive improvements through strategy and feedback.
- Guide and support the Collections Manager and team performance.
- Manage the legal handover of delinquent accounts.
- Supervise departmental heads and promote cross-functional collaboration.
- Drive accountability using KPIs and regular performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with NCA and internal policies.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management.
- Support strategic input on customer lifecycle and lending strategies.

Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Management, or related field (beneficial)
- Minimum 5 years experience in credit management, lending, or collections
- At least 2 years in a leadership or collections role
- Experience in microlending, credit policy, and collections management
- Knowledge of the National Credit Act and relevant compliance frameworks
- Proficiency in credit systems, CRM tools, and MS Office Suite
Remuneration
R32 000 - R35 000 monthly
