Job summary

Watershed Consulting is seeking a dedicated Credit Analyst in Gauteng (East Rand) to evaluate loan applicants and assess credit risk. You will work with the F&I manager and credit committee to make informed credit decisions and monitor compliance.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience, a relevant degree, and advanced MS Excel skills. A Code 8 driver's license is also requested, with a focus on thorough analysis and strong teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate or higher plus a Degree or equivalent in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Credit Risk Management.
• 3–5 years of corporate credit analysis or asset-finance evaluation experience.
• Strong MS Excel proficiency for complex data analysis and verification.

Responsibilities

Credit Analyst

• Location: Gauteng (East Rand), South Africa
• Reporting To: Financial & Insurance (F&I) Manager

Primary Responsibilities

• Financial Risk Evaluation: Gather and analyze financial data from loan applicants to evaluate risk and determine the creditworthiness of individuals, companies, and close corporations.
• Credit Decisioning & Adjustments: Formulate strategic recommendations to increase, adjust, extend, or close lines of credit. Collaborate directly with other financial experts and members of the credit committee to approve or decline finance applications.
• Comprehensive Risk Analysis: Undertake thorough risk analysis using regional, sector-specific, environmental, and financial data while staying highly aware of broader market trends.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all vehicle financing is concluded in strict adherence to company policies and regulations. Complete thorough quality assurance reviews and continuously monitor adherence to collateral compliance covenants.
• Reporting & Data Analysis: Prepare and present detailed corporate credit reports, and analyze data to verify the integrity of all submitted financial information.
• Process Optimization: Assist the department in continuously updating, refining, and improving internal credit rating criteria and risk scorecards.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Oversee or directly undertake necessary loan document preparation and checking. Clearly communicate credit decisions, risk parameters, and policies to internal teams and credit applicants.

Minimum Requirements & Personal Attributes

• Education: A Matric certificate or higher, alongside a completed Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Credit Risk Management.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful experience in a similar corporate credit analysis or asset-finance evaluation role.
• Technical Skills: Strong software skills, specifically Advanced MS Excel (for complex data analysis and verification).
• Licensing: Valid Code 8 driver’s license.
