Overview

Our client, a niche asset manager specialising in Private Debt, is seeking a Credit Analyst to join their growing team. The firm manages approximately R2.2 billion in assets, primarily on behalf of institutional investors, and has a 17-year track record. The team comprises two partners, with a third partner joining shortly - all of whom are active dealmakers - supported by three experienced administrative and support specialists.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for a candidate looking to transition from a large corporate environment into a dynamic and growing boutique investment house focused on private sector credit. The successful candidate will support the dealmakers, Head of Risk, and partners across credit analysis, financial modelling, report writing, and the broader investment process. Financial modelling skills as well as writing skills are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Credit analysis of new opportunities as well as existing restructures
  • Financial modelling in excel
  • Writing of credit submissions
  • Assistance with preparation of monthly risk reports
  • Assistance with monitoring and analysis of existing credit exposures, including calculation of covenants and liaising with management to understand financial reports and company performance
  • Monitoring deal implementation and adherence to the investment process from deal approval to pay out
  • Completion of calculations/reports as requested by investors from time to time
  • Assisting in liaising with investors to address their requirements when required
  • Attending periodic feedback to investors in respect of fund portfolios
Requirements
  • CA (SA) or similar
  • Three or more years’ banking experience and/or a credit-focused asset manager working either in a credit position or alongside a team of dealmakers is ideal
  • The ability to analyse property credit would be an added advantage to their business requirements. They are open to looking at candidates who are in audit or accounting firms and have the necessary financial skills and the ability to learn
