Country Manager – South Africa (on-site)
Drive our client's strategic direction and optimize growth in South Africa. Serve as the regulatory and commercial authority for the brand.
Reporting Structure: Business Development Director
Responsibilities
- Strategy & Alignment: Develop, implement, and own the business strategy for our client in South Africa. Lead forecasting and planning. Set and refine measurable KPIs with central teams, challenging metrics to ensure they directly reflect business objectives.
- Regulatory Command: Act as the primary SA representative. Ensure full local compliance with all regulatory, reporting, and BBEEE requirements. Manage and build strong relationships with local regulators and key external stakeholders.
- Operational Excellence: Guide central teams (UI/UX, Product, Marketing, BI, etc.) to deliver against their KPIs. Proactively identify and resolve all potential issues before they impact business performance.
- Local Product & Proposition: Collaborate with Tech/Product to ensure the sportsbook and casino offering is locally tailored for South African players. Translate market trends, customer behavior, and competitor insights into actionable product innovation.
- Team & Contracts: Directly manage local teams (Social/Influencers, Compliance, Customer Support). Ensure all local staff thoroughly understand company goals, objectives, and customer-centric values. Lead and execute local commercial relationships and contracts (e.g., Sumsub).
Prerequisites
- P&L Ownership: Proven ability to manage Profit & Loss (P&L), develop comprehensive business plans, and consistently hit revenue targets.
- SA Industry Expertise: Demonstrated leadership experience within the online sportsbook and/or casino industry in South Africa.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Western Cape licensing framework and the broader local regulatory environment is essential.
- Skill Set: Data-driven analytical skills, exceptional influencing, leadership, and team-building capability across cross-functional teams, and proven effectiveness in a fast-paced, hands-on operational environment.
- Operational Exposure: Proven experience with Marketing, Payments, Customer Operations, and Casino Games providers is required.
