Job summary

RMB in Johannesburg is seeking a Cost Accountant to develop and interrogate cost and profitability models, supporting operational decision-making and forward-looking financial planning. You will ensure data integrity, identify trends and variances, and translate financial information into actionable recommendations that enhance business performance and resource optimisation.

The ideal candidate has a relevant bachelor's degree and 4–5 years' cost accounting or financial analytics experience,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Cost & Management Accounting or related qualification.
4–5 years of Cost Accounting/Financial Analytics experience.
Strong SQL and data interrogation skills to analyse large datasets.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.

Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and enhance cost allocation, profitability, forecasting, and predictive models.
Apply analytical techniques to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and performance drivers.
Analyse large datasets using SQL; translate findings into business recommendations.
Develop insights to support cost optimisation, resource allocation, and profitability.
Assist budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning activities.
Translate complex financial information for stakeholders and collaborate with finance, analytics, and business teams.
