Job description

Introduction

A leading industrial manufacturing concern is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the analysing and managing all costs associated with the production process.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with production, purchasing, and management teams to ensure accurate financial data that supports strategic decision-making.
• Investigate material over / under recoveries and abnormal cost increases in respect of material, labour, and overheads.
• Supervise and prepare manufacturing cost center budgets and forecasts.
• Calculate recovery rates in conjunction with relevant manufacturing departments heads.
• Accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of weekly / monthly wages.
• Accurate reporting of all inventory balances.
• Coordinate annual cost updates and analyse product profitability and bill of materials.
• Machine rate calculations.
• Report on and provide support on purchase price and labour variances.
• Accrue for inbound / outbound freight and clearing cost, analyse against actuals and recommend improvements.
• Product warranty accruals and periodic review of provision rates.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BCom Accounting Degree.
• Studying towards or CIMA qualified would be advantageous.
• Min 4 years relevant experience within the cost accounting field with exposure to monthly / quarterly.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
