Introduction
A leading industrial manufacturing concern is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the analysing and managing all costs associated with the production process.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, and management teams to ensure accurate financial data that supports strategic decision-making.
- Investigate material over / under recoveries and abnormal cost increases in respect of material, labour, and overheads.
- Supervise and prepare manufacturing cost center budgets and forecasts.
- Calculate recovery rates in conjunction with relevant manufacturing departments heads.
- Accurate and timely processing and reconciliation of weekly / monthly wages.
- Accurate reporting of all inventory balances.
- Coordinate annual cost updates and analyse product profitability and bill of materials.
- Machine rate calculations.
- Report on and provide support on purchase price and labour variances.
- Accrue for inbound / outbound freight and clearing cost, analyse against actuals and recommend improvements.
- Product warranty accruals and periodic review of provision rates.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BCom Accounting Degree.
- Studying towards or CIMA qualified would be advantageous.
- Min 4 years relevant experience within the cost accounting field with exposure to monthly / quarterly.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
