Guided by a commitment to conscious beauty, our Research & Development team integrates knowledge of nutrition, skin biology, and therapeutic ingredients to produce effective, safe, and indulgent formulations. We are searching for an experienced Cosmetic Chemist with a strong background in formulation, compounding, and quality control.
This role will work directly with the CEO and senior team to innovate, refine, and maintain our growing product lines, while ensuring manufacturing excellence in our Randburg facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulation & Development: Design, develop, and test new skincare, bath, and body formulations aligned with brand philosophy and market trends.
- Innovate eco‑friendly, natural, and vegetarian products that meet both consumer needs and regulatory requirements.
- Compounding & Manufacturing Support: Oversee and guide compounding processes to ensure batch consistency and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Support production teams with technical expertise, ensuring smooth scale‑up from lab to full production.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Establish and maintain QC, ensuring every batch meets safety, stability, and performance standards; prepare and maintain laboratory documentation, specifications, and regulatory compliance records.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO on product strategy, innovation, and special projects; partner with manufacturing, operations, and R&D teams to continuously improve processes and efficiency; contribute technical insight to supplier selection, raw material evaluation, and cost optimization.
- Research & Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry innovations, ingredient trends, and regulatory changes; recommend improvements and new ingredient technologies for next‑generation products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field (Master's advantageous).
- 3–5+ years of hands‑on formulation and compounding experience in cosmetics, skincare, or personal care.
- Proven track record in quality control, regulatory compliance, and lab documentation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, raw material handling, and GMP.
- Ability to problem‑solve in a fast‑paced production environment while ensuring product integrity.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; confident working directly with executive leadership.
