Job summary

Milton Resourcing Pty in Cape Town seeks an accomplished Corporate Commercial Lawyer to lead complex transactions and strategic growth in South Africa’s corporate and commercial arena.

You will advise on M&A, joint ventures, and licensing, draft diverse commercial contracts, and guide regulatory matters in insurance and financial services. Mentoring junior staff and developing client relationships are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney in the High Court of South Africa.
• 10 years PQE in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law.
• LLB degree, LLM or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in research, writing and time management.
• Proven ability in client relationship management and business development.

Responsibilities

• Advise on structuring, negotiating and documenting complex corporate and commercial transactions including M&A, joint ventures and portfolio transfers.
• Draft and negotiate a broad spectrum of commercial contracts (supply, distribution, licensing, technology).
• Provide regulatory guidance on insurance and reinsurance licensing, intermediary regulation and financial services compliance.
• Mentor junior legal staff and assist in succession planning within the practice.
• Engage in business development initiatives to strengthen client relationships and support growth.

Duties:

• Advise clients on structuring, negotiating, and documenting intricate corporate and commercial transactions including M&A, joint ventures, and portfolio transfers.
• Draft and negotiate a broad spectrum of commercial contracts such as supply, distribution, licensing, and technology agreements.
• Provide regulatory guidance on insurance and reinsurance licensing, intermediary regulation, and compliance with South African financial services legislation.
• Mentor junior legal staff and assist in succession planning within the practice.
• Engage in business development initiatives to strengthen client relationships and support the firm’s growth strategy.

Requirements:

• Admitted Attorney in the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 10 years PQE in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law.
• Strong academic credentials, including an LLB (LLM or postgraduate qualification preferred).
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in research, writing, and time management.
• Proven ability in client relationship management and business development.

Salary: R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum (Cost to Company)
