Responsibilities
  • Open new matters on AJS and LexisConvey, prepare introductory letters, perform LexisWinDeed searches, and attend to FICA and KYC processes.
  • Maintain physical and electronic files, ensuring they are organised, complete, and easily accessible.
  • Draft conveyancing documents, including transfer documents, using MS Word and LexisConvey.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, filing, arranging courier deliveries, archiving, and scheduling document-signing appointments.
  • Identify potential issues during the transfer process and proactively resolve them.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, attorneys, and third parties; provide progress updates and address client inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Manage the financial aspects of transactions, including preparing invoices and final accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including FICA and KYC.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Matric/Grade 12; a formal Paralegal qualification is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) and LexisConvey; familiarity with AJS and e4 systems is beneficial.
  • 3-5 years of experience in conveyancing or a similar legal support role; knowledge of property transfer procedures and related legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; good time management and organisational abilities.
