1. JOB SUMMARY

The Control & Instrumentation Services Supervisor is responsible for planning, organising and executing daily workshop activities, including the repair, calibration and testing of a wide range of industrial instrumentation and related equipment.

The role involves supervising workshop operations, ensuring that all repairs and service activities meet company policies, procedures and quality standards, and supporting the growth of the service business through effective customer engagement and reliable technical execution.

The successful candidate will work closely with Regional Sales Teams and customers to identify service opportunities, support installation solutions and ensure high-quality service delivery to both internal and external customers.

2. KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Customer Service & Business Development

• Identify customer requirements and promote the organisations' service capabilities, including installation and related technical solutions.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.

• Identify opportunities to expand service activities and support business growth through consistent and reliable service delivery.

• Engage with customers to understand their technical and operational requirements.

• Work closely with Sales Consultants to identify and progress service-related opportunities.

2.2 Sales & Opportunity Management

• Forecast and report on annual, monthly and weekly service opportunities using the companies' CRM system.

• Collaborate with Sales Consultants on service opportunities and ensure effective relationship management.

• Assist in establishing annual order intake targets through engagement with Sales Consultants and customers.

• Work with Sales Consultants to develop and maintain an accurate STO (Shutdowns, Turnarounds and Outages) opportunity funnel for customers within the designated area.

• Monitor service opportunities and ensure relevant updates are captured accurately in the CRM system.

2.3 Workshop Operations & Supervision

• Plan, coordinate and execute daily workshop activities, including instrument repairs, calibration and testing.

• Manage and supervise workshop operations to ensure the effective execution of all service activities.

• Supervise direct reports within the workshop environment.

• Ensure the optimal utilisation of personnel, equipment, facilities and other available resources.

• Ensure that repairs and services are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures and customer requirements.

• Monitor operational performance and address issues that may affect service delivery, quality or turnaround times.

2.4 Quality Management & Compliance

• Ensure that the quality management system applicable to the repair process is implemented, maintained and consistently followed.

• Ensure that all workshop repairs, calibrations and testing activities meet the required quality standards.

• Promote compliance with relevant company policies, procedures and operational requirements.

• Identify and address quality concerns within the workshop and implement corrective actions where required.

2.5 Skills Development & Training

• Assess the skills and training requirements of the team and identify areas for development.

• Facilitate appropriate training and development interventions to address identified competency gaps.

• Ensure that Planned Job Observations are conducted annually.

• Support continuous improvement in technical capability, service quality and operational performance.

• Promote knowledge sharing and skills development within the workshop team.

3. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 or equivalent.

• Instrumentation Trade Test and/or National Diploma in Instrumentation.

• Supervisory certification will be advantageous.

4. EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

• 3-5 years' experience in process plant maintenance.

• At least 2 years of practical supervisory experience.

• Sound knowledge of industrial instrumentation and its applications within the relevant industry.

• Experience in instrumentation repairs, calibration, testing and workshop-related service activities.

• Experience in managing or supervising technical personnel and operational resources.

• Exposure to customer engagement, service opportunities and collaboration with sales teams will be advantageous.

• Valid drivers' licence is required.
