Lyceum College is seeking experienced and academically sound individuals to assist in the development of high-quality outcomes‑aligned study materials for modules offered under our teacher education qualification. This will either be in the capacity of a content developer or a reviewer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of teacher education in South Africa, particularly in the context of distance learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop full study guides for assigned modules including:
- Structured learning content
- Learning outcomes aligned with the HEQSF and the qualification purpose
- Activities and self‑assessments with suggested responses
- Assessment preparation material (e.g. assignment tips, past paper simulations)
- Produce distance‑learning friendly content that is accessible, engaging and learner‑centred
- Integrate relevant academic readings (textbook and open‑access), case studies, and South African educational policies
- Submit editable, properly formatted Word documents that meet institutional templates and standards
- Work under tight timeframes with multiple deadlines, maintaining consistent quality
- Be responsive to feedback from academic reviewers, instructional designers and the quality assurance team
- Ensure academic integrity and originality in all materials developed
Required Competencies
- Excellent academic writing skills with the ability to write for undergraduate students
- Sound understanding of curriculum design and outcomes‑based education
- Proven ability to work independently and under pressure
- Familiarity with distance and online learning principles
- High attention to detail including referencing (preferably Harvard style)
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant Masters degree in Education or a related discipline (essential)
- At least 2 years experience in teaching, curriculum development or instructional design in higher education
- Demonstrable experience in developing study materials or academic texts
- Familiarity with the Higher Education Qualifications Sub‑Framework (HEQSF) and Council on Higher Education (CHE) standards
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and accept revisions where required
- Computer literacy and access to your own laptop / desktop and internet
Added Advantage
- Doctorate in Education or working towards one
- Experience in distance education institutions
- Knowledge of South African school curriculum policy (e.g. CAPS, NCS, etc.)
- Previous work with private higher education institutions
Assessment Task
Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a writing competency task. This will involve preparing a short excerpt of a study guide based on a supplied module topic. This exercise will assess:
- Academic language and clarity
- Structure and pedagogical flow
- Alignment to outcomes and student accessibility
