Placements24 is seeking a certified Construction Welder to join our client’s team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on fabricating and joining metal components for construction, ensuring high-quality welds and adherence to project specs.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, interpret welding symbols, and perform welding across SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW methods. Safety is paramount in this hands-on position in varying environments.

Qualifications

• Certified welder with Red Seal or equivalent.
• Proficient in multiple welding processes and techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience in construction environments and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW on structural steel and pipes.
• Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning and beveling.
• Ensure welds meet specifications, quality standards and codes.
• Inspect completed welds for defects and ensure proper fusion and penetration.
• Adhere to safety regulations and wear PPE at all times.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a certified and highly skilled Construction Welder to join their team undertaking projects in and around Queenstown . This role is essential for fabricating and joining metal components used in various construction applications, including structural steel erection, pipefitting, and creating custom metal structures. You will be responsible for performing welding tasks to the highest standards of quality and safety, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to project specifications. The ideal candidate is meticulous, safety-conscious, and proficient with various welding techniques. This is a hands-on role for a dedicated welder in the Eastern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations using various methods (e.g., SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) on structural steel, pipes, and other metal components.
• Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings.
• Prepare metal surfaces for welding, including cleaning, grinding, and beveling.
• Ensure all welds meet required specifications, quality standards, and codes.
• Inspect completed welds for defects and ensure proper fusion and penetration.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Welder with relevant certifications (e.g., Red Seal Welder).
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes and techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
• Strong understanding of metal properties and welding metallurgy.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices for welding in a construction environment.
