About the Location

Khoemacau is a long-life copper–silver mine located in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt. The mine operates underground using long‑hole stoping, and is connected to the Boseto processing plant via a purpose‑built haul road.

Role Overview

The Construction Superintendent will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of construction projects related to roads, earthworks, and civil engineering. This position is based at the mine site located between Maun and Sehithwa in Ngamiland.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all construction activities on‑site, ensuring projects are completed according to the project plan, specifications, and standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of construction workers, subcontractors, and site personnel, ensuring clear roles and effective teamwork.
  • Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with design specifications, codes, and standards, conducting regular inspections and assessments.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations on‑site, conducting safety meetings and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate the use of materials, equipment, and labour to optimise efficiency and minimise costs, monitoring inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Document and report any issues, delays or changes to senior management.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, engineers and clients to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
  • Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, ensuring projects stay within financial constraints.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team, ensuring best practice engineering principles are followed.
About You
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years construction supervision experience, focusing on roads, earthworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Strong leadership and team‑management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of construction processes, methods and materials for roads and earthworks.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
