A global renewable energy company is seeking an experienced Construction Site Manager to oversee large-scale solar construction projects in South Africa. This is a unique opportunity for a hands‑on leader to manage field operations, ensure top‑quality project delivery, and drive a best-in-class customer experience.

The Role

As the Construction Site Manager, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations on solar construction sites, supervising large teams, and ensuring all projects meet safety, quality, and schedule requirements. You will act as the technical point of contact for the team and customers, translating project designs into effective onsite execution while coordinating subcontractors, temporary labor, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise daily field operations across multiple construction sites
  • Provide technical guidance and support for large-scale PV installation, including civil, structural, and electrical components
  • Manage workflow, construction sequencing, and resource allocation for teams of 300+ personnel and subcontractors
  • Translate wiring, civil, structural, and electrical schematics into actionable construction plans
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, conducting safety meetings, and documenting adherence to OSHA safety standards
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with project managers, engineers, and clients
  • Assist in project preplanning, including manpower allocation, material requisitions, project sequencing, and subcontractor scope review
  • Track and report construction progress, material deliveries, installation issues, and equipment usage
  • Train and support teams in tool maintenance, operation, and safety practices
  • Drive quality control and ensure construction projects meet or exceed customer expectations
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of construction management experience, preferably in renewable energy or solar PV projects
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and construction systems
  • Proficiency with heavy equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts, bobcats, reach forklifts) and basic building tools (laser levels, transits)
  • Strong knowledge of construction math, problem-solving, and project execution
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage large, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and under budget
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Commitment to safe working practices
  • Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%
  • Previous solar electricity or renewable energy experience highly desired
