Introduction

We are looking for a skilled Construction Manager for an International client to oversee the execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery.

This role requires proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams across large-scale wind or solar PV projects, with a strong understanding of EPC operations, HSE compliance, and stakeholder coordination.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project Execution & Site Management: Lead the construction of solar PV farms from site establishment to handover
  • Project Execution & Site Management: Manage all on-site construction activities in line with project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Project Execution & Site Management: Ensure adherence to technical specifications, design drawings, and quality standards
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Oversee site teams including supervisors, subcontractors, and technical specialists
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Chair daily/weekly site meetings and ensure effective communication among all stakeholders
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Commissioning teams
  • HSE Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • HSE Compliance & Quality Control: Enforce site safety policies and lead incident investigations and corrective actions
  • HSE Compliance & Quality Control: Monitor QA/QC procedures and manage site inspections
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Track project milestones, issue progress reports, and manage deviations proactively
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain accurate site records including permits, variations, and contractor performance
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting: Liaise with the Project Manager, clients, consultants, and local authorities
  • Local Engagement & Labour Management: Support local labour sourcing and management in alignment with community agreements
  • Local Engagement & Labour Management: Collaborate with HR and TES providers for compliance with BCEA, BCCEI, NBCEI (if applicable)

The candidate must have Renewable Energy Experience

8.1 Appointment Letter

Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, or similar

7+ years’ experience in construction management, with at least 3 years in renewable energy (Solar PV)

Proven track record managing multi-million-rand energy or infrastructure projects

Strong knowledge of project delivery models (EPC, IPP, BOOT, etc.)

Familiar with OHS Act, ISO standards, and local regulatory requirements

Valid driver’s license and willingness to be site-based for extended periods

Must have Legal Liability Certification

Must have relevant training with regard to Incident Investigation procedures and causation analysis

Must have fire prevention and protection training

Must have appropriate training with regards to construction related Hazard Identification and Risk management processes
