Job summary

Resourgenix (Pty) Ltd, on behalf of a private Big Five game reserve in Limpopo, seeks a Conservation Manager to lead the conservation programme focused on biodiversity, wildlife population dynamics, habitat management and long-term ecological sustainability.

You will work with the Reserve Warden, oversee ecological monitoring, fire/vegetation/water management, and ensure compliance with South African environmental legislation. Accommodation is provided.

Qualifications

• A relevant degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology, Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years' conservation or ecological management experience, ideally within a private game reserve or national park.
• A minimum of 3 years' supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in wildlife management, ecological monitoring, habitat assessment and conservation planning.
• Strong practical knowledge of South African ecosystems and environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Leading ecological monitoring, veld assessments, carrying capacity planning and habitat rehabilitation.
• Overseeing wildlife population management, predator monitoring, game censuses and conservation interventions.
• Developing and implementing fire, vegetation, water and environmental management programmes.
• Using ecological research, GIS and monitoring technologies to inform conservation decisions.
• Managing environmental compliance, research partnerships, conservation budgets and field teams.
• Supporting conservation expansion initiatives and carbon sequestration programmes.

CONSERVATION MANAGER | BIG FIVE GAME RESERVE

Location: Limpopo, South Africa

Conservation is more than protecting wildlife. It is about understanding, managing and sustaining the ecosystems on which wildlife depends.

Resourgenix is recruiting an experienced Conservation Manager on behalf of our client, an established private Big Five game reserve in Limpopo.

This is a substantial conservation leadership role for someone who combines sound ecological knowledge with practical wildlife management experience and the ability to translate scientific evidence into effective decisions in the field.

Working closely with the Reserve Warden, you will take responsibility for planning and implementing the reserve's conservation programme, with a particular focus on biodiversity, wildlife population dynamics, habitat management and long-term ecological sustainability.

Your responsibilities will include:
