Job description
Introduction

We are an award-winning cosmetic brand, based in Centurion, Gauteng province specializing in manufacturing, sales, and distribution of skin products.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compounder to join our dynamic team. Location: The suitable candidate must be living in and around Gauteng, particularly in Pretoria, and / or surrounding areas, such as Johannesburg or willing to relocate.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Weigh, measure, and mix raw materials according to batch manufacturing records (formulation sheets).
  • Operate mixing equipment (tanks, propellers, homogenisers, pumps, etc) safely and effectively.
  • Verify raw materials and batch numbers to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitisation of mixing equipment and work areas.
  • Follow SOPs, GMP, quality and safety requirements all the time.
  • Monitor and document process parameters (in-process checks) (e.g. temperature, ph, viscosity, mixing speed) Report deviations, abnormalities or errors, and equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Collaborate with quality control for sampling and testing, and R and D whenever required.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency and product quality.
Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of compounding processes and equipment.
  • Understanding of cosmetic formulations, raw materials, and chemical handling.
  • Familiarity with GMP, SOPs, and quality control requirements.
  • Ability to use measurement tools (scales, thermometers, pH meters, viscometer).
  • Basic troubleshooting of compounding equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic cleaning and sanitisation of equipment and workspaces.
  • Simple record-keeping (batch manufacturing sheets, checklists, logs).
Desired Experience & Qualification

Required qualifications and skills

  • Matric certificate or equivalent qualification obtained from a recognized school or college.
  • 2+ years' experience in a factory / warehouse environment (cosmetics / fragile goods preferred).
  • Understanding of raw material handling requirements is essential.
  • Physical fitness for working in a compounding area is required.
  • GMP knowledge and training in a cosmetic environment is required.
  • Forklift license and safety certifications are advantageous.
