Job summary

A leading manufacturer in the energy sector in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a Product Development Engineer on a fixed term contract. This role focuses on the development of composite insulators, managing engineering projects, and implementing manufacturing processes. Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and at least five years' experience in product design and manufacturing. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in CAD are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering product design and manufacturing.
• Exposure to the electrical power transmission and distribution industry is advantageous.
• Integrity, personal credibility, and independence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver composite insulator engineering projects within cost and time limitations.
• Oversee prototype designs, technical qualification, and international testing.
• Design and implement manufacturing processes (Silicone Injection Moulding and Finishing).
• Drive continuous improvement of product design and costing.
• Support manufacturing departments in reducing production waste.
