Job summary

Discovery Invest, part of Discovery, is seeking a Junior Operational Compliance Officer to support end-to-end contract lifecycle, fund availability and regulatory reporting. You will liaise with asset managers, trustees and external partners to ensure compliance and timely communications.

The role involves contract reviews, due diligence, and coordinating with internal teams on product and compliance initiatives across local and offshore platforms.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field (BSC/BCOM/LLB).
• 2 years in a similar role/level.
• MS Excel and MS Word proficiency.
• Strong communication, analytical and detail-oriented skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist, drive and ensure quick turnaround on all new contracts and agreements.
• Facilitate updates to forms and contracts (e.g., fund/fund class changes).
• Assist with Corporate Actions impact analysis locally and offshore.
• Assist with external fund setup and amendments.
• Prepare due diligence documents for internal and external entities.
• Maintain compliance reporting and records for Discovery Life and Invest.
• Support product development with practical implementation and communication.
• Provide regulatory knowledge base and assist with regular stakeholder reporting.

About Finance (Funds, Compliance and Operational Risk)

The Operational Risk and Compliance area within the Discovery Invest finance regulates all Compliance functions, product/supplier contracts and controls all Life, CIS, and Employee benefits funds available on the platforms. (Internal and external). This team is ultimately responsible and supports the Product supply area, product development and the Finance area of Discovery Invest. Part of the function includes, drafting/reviewing all agreements with Asset managers, Management companies, Discretionary fund managers and Product suppliers, ensuring funds suitability, availability to business areas and to ensure the business area complies with relevant legislation

As part of the process, this includes start to end processes, including relationship management, contracting (New and amendments), fund availability/changes, implementation, with various external vendors, administrators, trustees, regulators and liaising with external custodians/partners in various jurisdictions (Local and Offshore).

Key Purpose

The Operational Compliance Officer is a critical role that has the responsibility of ensuring that, contracts, fund management are managed swiftly and efficiently, in terms of communicating to internal and external providers and the various system/ business teams

Since the Junior Operational Compliance has such a wide range of functions, the role will overlap with various functions / initiatives / responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist, drive and ensure quick turnaround on all new contracts and agreements
• Facilitate the updates to forms, contracts e.g. in the case of fund/fund class changes
• Assist with Corporate Actions Impact Analysis Local and offshore
• Assist with External fund setup and amendments
• Assist with compiling due diligence documents for Internal and external companies
• List, obtain and file copies of all compliance reports for Discovery Life and Invest (record keeping)
• Assist with Product development (practical implementation and communication
• Ballots, fund class changes
• Maintaining the Fund database and LEI registers
• Client communication
• Assist with compliance oversight and reporting functions
• Assist with Overseeing/Monitoring the external service providers
• Technical advice
• Assist with DFM brokers onboarding and rebalances
• Assist with new account opening, local and offshore
• Assist Adhoc business requests
• Assist with reports to regulators or external providers
• Assist with Compliance queries
• Regulatory Knowledge Base build up & maintenance
• Assist with Regular reporting to stakeholders (Management, Business owners)
• Opportunity to get involved with business during the launch/setup phases of any new initiatives as well as operational exposure to the business
• Opportunity to gain exposure to all the other finance functions including multi-management, product supply (asset-liability matching), reporting and tax.

Education and Experience

Education

• BSC/BCOM/LLB/ or any related qualification
