Qualifications

  • Relevant Governance controls and regulatory knowledge.

  • Provide input and ensure accurate reporting of compliance risks.
  • Advise on regulatory changes and their potential impact.

Job description
Job Purpose

To consult on and advise the Transactional Services Division regarding relevant domestic and international legislation; including payments related legislation compliance and governance to ensure abidance to relevant codes, regulations and rules thereby minimising risk to and protecting the reputation of Nedbank.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor compliance risks and determine the state of compliance in client facing business areas.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are adhered to and adequate compliance risk management practices are in place.
  • Execute the annual compliance risk-based program i.e. Identify Assess Monitor & Report.
  • Provide input review and ensure accurate reporting and articulation of compliance risks.
  • Provide advice and/or input to internal stakeholders on possible contraventions of compliance risks through early detection.
  • Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders by establishing partnerships in managing compliance risks.
  • Engage with stakeholders formally through determining scope of work understanding and identifying client needs.
  • Test whether the business control is adequate and effective and ensure that business procedures and processes and policies contain the right content adequately addressing legislative requirements.
  • Advise business of new regulatory changes and identify potential impact of these changes on the business.
  • Prevent compliance breaches and reputational risk from occurring which could result in financial penalties.
  • Conduct training for staff on compliance obligations and ensure awareness of business compliance status.
  • Enable compliance in payment services by ensuring compliance to electronic payment regulation.
Essential Qualifications

• NQF Level Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees
• Preferred Qualification: Bachelor of Laws (LLB); Bachelor of Commerce in Law; Bachelor of Commerce: Risk Management
• Essential Certifications: Compliance Institute of South Africa (preferred)
• Minimum Experience Level: 5-8 years in a senior compliance / risk / governance role
• Technical / Professional Knowledge: Relevant Governance controls and regulatory knowledge; Corporate Governance & Compliance; Compliance reporting; Archiving Documentation; Policy & Procedural Knowledge
• Behavioural Competencies: Decision Making, Influencing, Building Trusting Relationships, Managing Work, Quality Orientation, Stress Tolerance
