Qualifications

Overview

Guardrisk is seeking a Compliance Manager to lead the development and oversight of our Compliance monitoring programme.

Role Purpose

The Compliance Manager will drive the monitoring and oversight programme, report Compliance results for group licences, ensure policies and procedures are followed and cultivate a strong compliance culture within our group.

Qualifications
  • BCom General / Law or LLB
  • Compliance Management Certificate from the Compliance Institute or equivalent
  • 5 to 7 years of insurance compliance experience, including 2 years in a management role specialising in insurance compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Companies Act, Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, Insurance Act, and short-term / long-term insurance regulatory framework.
  • Knowledge of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Anti-Money Laundering legislation, and operational risk exposure is an advantage.
  • Experience analysing new government policy and its impact on the organisation.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop, initiate, maintain and revise policies and procedures for the Compliance Function.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Compliance Function.
  • Periodically review and update Codes of Conduct.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, industry associations and business areas to direct compliance issues for investigative resolution.
  • Consult with legal and risk departments to resolve complex legal compliance issues.
  • Respond to alleged contraventions and recommend investigative procedures.
  • Oversee a system for uniform handling of violations.
  • Act as an independent review body to ensure compliance issues are appropriately evaluated.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans.
  • Provide guidance to avoid recurring breaches.
  • Ensure proper reporting of violations.
  • Maintain an effective compliance communication and training programme.
  • Monitor the performance of the Compliance Function and take steps to improve its effectiveness.
