About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and driven Community Sports Development Officer to join their team in Durban . This role is dedicated to fostering grassroots participation in various sports and recreational activities throughout the local community. You will be instrumental in identifying opportunities, developing new programs, and building strong relationships with local schools, clubs, and community groups to increase engagement in Leisure & Sports . This is a hands‑on position for someone who is enthusiastic about making a tangible difference in people's lives through sport and physical activity, contributing to a healthier and more active Durban .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage community-based sports programs and events tailored to diverse age groups and skill levels.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local schools, sports clubs, community centres, and other stakeholders.
• Promote participation in Leisure & Sports activities through outreach initiatives and marketing efforts.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist in grant writing to secure resources for program development.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, reporting on participation numbers, impact, and key outcomes.
• Organize and deliver training workshops for volunteers and coaches within the community.

Requirements

• Experience in sports development , community engagement, or event management within the Leisure & Sports sector.
• Strong understanding of diverse sports and recreational activities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Relevant qualifications in Sports Science, Recreation Management, or Community Development are preferred.
